Humanitarian Mission: AMAND Pune’s Relief Materials Reach Displaced Persons in 35 Camps in Manipur

Pune, 27th December 2023: The Association of Manipuri Diaspora (AMAND), Pune, organized and distributed “Supply of materials in Relief camps in Manipur,” in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Pune, Kharadi; Lions Club of Pune; Rubicon Foundation; Manav Darshan Foundation; Leichal Taret Foundation; and Meitei Nupi Lup.

Kulabidhu Chanam, President, AMAND, Pune, said, “The purpose of this program is to support and provide assistance to those who are most in need in relief camps of Manipur by distributing varieties of essential materials. Together with the help of these foundations/associations and some generous individual donors, AMAND dispatched 1130 kg of relief materials from Pune to Imphal, and the same was distributed by AMAND volunteers in Manipur in 35 relief camps starting from the 1st week of December 2023.”

The relief camp materials included:
– Blankets and shawls
– Jackets, hoodies, and other warm clothes
– Women’s innerwear (10,000 pcs)
– Sanitary napkins (10,000 pcs)
– Socks (500 pairs)
– Rice, oil, and some groceries (locally purchased)

“AMAND is very grateful and extends its gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner, Imphal East; Airport Director, Imphal; and Indigo Airlines for the full support in cargo shipment, without which the mission would not have been possible. AMAND would like to thank and honor all our partners, donors, volunteers, the distribution team in Manipur for rendering and outreaching services in making this mission a grand success in serving the needy Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in various relief camps in Manipur,” stated a press release from AMAND.
