Pune, 19th March 2025: The Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) has received 2,16,751 orders for High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) so far. Out of these, 79,483 vehicle owners have scheduled appointments, and 40,924 vehicles have already been fitted with HSRP number plates. In response to growing complaints and appointment shortages, the RTO is now planning to increase the number of HSRP installation centres to ease the process.

HSRP is a government-approved special registration plate designed to enhance vehicle security and identification. In Maharashtra, it has been made mandatory for all 2.1 crore vehicles to have HSRP installed before April 30, 2025.

Pune Deputy Regional Transport Officer Swapnil Bhosale stated, “The number of installation centres has already been increased from 69 to 124, and we plan to expand further soon. The decision will be based on vendor records and demand.”

Benefits of HSRP:
Helps prevent vehicle theft
Reduces the use of fake number plates
Ensures digital tracking and transparency in vehicle registration
Supports fuel efficiency and environmental protection
Integrates with FASTag and the VAHAN database, aiding in proper vehicle inspection

RTO Guidelines for Vehicle Owners:
Book an appointment for HSRP at the official website or designated centres as soon as possible.
Avoid delays, as penalties may be imposed after April 30, 2025.
If facing difficulties in getting an appointment, visit the official RTO website for assistance.
With the deadline approaching, vehicle owners are urged to complete the process at the earliest to avoid inconvenience and possible fines.
