Hit-and-Run Shocks Pune: Infosys Employee Injured in Hinjawadi Accident

Hinjawadi, 6th June 2024: Following the recent tragic incident in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar, where a drunk minor caused fatalities while speeding, citizens remain on edge. This anxiety heightened with a similar occurrence in Hinjawadi, where an employee of the esteemed company Infosys was severely injured in a hit-and-run accident while commuting home. The incident occurred within the Xrbia Township of Hinjawadi at midnight on Sunday, the 2nd of June.

The victim, Lekharaj Hari Figade (27 years old, residing in Xrbia Township and originally from Jalgaon), lodged a complaint at the Hinjawadi Police Station. The Hinjawadi Police have initiated a case against the unknown driver of a white car, as the registration number remains unidentified.

According to police reports, the victim, an Infosys employee residing in Hinjawadi, was returning home on his Hero Honda Motorcycle on Sunday midnight. The white car, recklessly driving at high speed, collided with the victim’s two-wheeler. Consequently, the motorcycle sustained significant damage, and the victim suffered severe injuries to his right leg, including a fracture. The driver of the car fled the scene without halting.

The Hinjawadi Police have pressed charges against the driver under IPC Sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), and 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees), along with pertinent sections of the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988. Active investigation by the Hinjawadi Police is underway to unravel further details.
