Pune, 18th June 2024: Pune Metro Line 3, known as the ‘Puneri Metro,’ is set to adopt the Third Rail System starting June 20, 2024. This move marks a significant step forward in the development of sustainable and reliable urban transportation in Pune. As the project progresses rapidly, developers are now ready to implement electrification for Line 3.

The electrification will involve a 33,000 V, 50 Hz AC power cable and a 750 V DC third rail traction system, which will be activated at Hinjawadi. This system will ensure efficient power supply to the metro line.

Authorities have informed all citizens and personnel that the power supply system will be operational from the specified date. Unauthorized access to the electrified areas is strictly prohibited to ensure safety.

The Pune Metro Line 3 project, running from Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar, is a joint effort between Tata Group and PMRDA, operating under a Public Private Partnership (PPP). The Tata Group has created Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited as a special purpose vehicle (SPV) to manage the implementation of this project.
