High-Level U.S. Delegation in Pune to Bolster Strategic Research and Innovation Ties

Pune, 25th February 2025: U.S. Consul General in Mumbai, Mike Hankey, announced that Dr. Tom Lograsso, Director of the Critical Materials Innovation Hub at Ames National Laboratory, is visiting Pune to advance U.S.-India cooperation in critical minerals, emerging technologies, and supply chain security.

The U.S. Consulate Mumbai confirmed that his visit aligns with the 2025 U.S.-India Joint Leaders’ Statement and supports the newly launched U.S.-India COMPACT and TRUST initiatives, aimed at strengthening government, academia, and private sector partnerships.

During his visit, Dr. Lograsso is engaging with key industry leaders and researchers from institutions such as CSIR-NCL, IISER, IIT-Bombay, and Symbiosis International University. These discussions focus on fostering innovation, strategic collaboration, and educational linkages between the two nations. A significant agenda item is the establishment of a Lab-to-Lab Agreement to facilitate long-term research and development cooperation.

His visit is expected to deepen ties between Ames Lab and CSIR-NCL, enhancing joint research in critical minerals and advanced technologies. This collaboration will link U.S. and Indian researchers to drive innovation, support the commercialization of new technologies, and ensure resilient and secure supply chains.

The U.S. Consulate in Mumbai has played a crucial role in facilitating these discussions, emphasizing the importance of person-to-person and institutional ties in strategic technology fields.
