Heavy Rains: Three People Washed Away In Pune Rural, 54 Persons Rescued In Pune City

Pune, October 15, 2020: A swollen stream killed three people at Daund’s Rajegaon-Khanwate road amid heavy rain falls on Wednesday.

Local villagers have recovered three dead bodies and are searching for one more person who was with them. The deceased have been identified as Gangadhar Lokhande ( 52), Appasaheb Harishchandra Dhayatonde (55) and Kalawati Appasaheb Dhayatonde (48), all residents of Khanwate. While Subhash Narayan Lokhande (48) is missing.

Unaware of the rising water level of the road near the Tukai temple , all the four persons on two bikes swept away. This included a married couple as well.

Meanwhile, the three dead bodies were found in the water at a depth of 40 to 100 feet.

54 persons rescued in Pune city

Speaking to Punekarnews.in, Pune Fire Brigade chief Prashant Ranpise informed, “We have rescued 54 people in the city from different areas now. No casualties have been declared in the city”.
