Heavy Rain Predicted For Pune, IMD Issues Yellow Alert For Next Four Days

Pune 23rd Sept 2023: The Pune city and rural areas have been reporting a heavy rainfall for the last few hours. This led to waterlogging in several areas of the city while water levels in the dams that supply water to Pune city have also increased. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the heavy rainfall in the district is likely to continue for another few days as a yellow alert has been issued for the next four days.

According to IMD, the district is likely to witness ‘thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds (30-40kmph) at one or two places’ between September 24 and 27 and a yellow alert has been issued during this period. The IMD officials said that forecast is likely to be updated for Pune based on the real observations considering the favourable situation for the heavy rain.

According to the latest data by IMD at 5:45 pm, Chinchwad has received 36.5 mm rain in the last few hours while Lohegaon has reported 36 mm rain. Similarly. Shivajinagar has reported 19.7 mm rain while Pashan has reported 21.8 mm rain. The water level in the four dams of Khadakwasla cluster has reached 95.16% (27.74 TMC) which was recorded 94.2% (27.41 TMC) on Thursday evening.
