New Delhi, 2nd August 2023: Recent Updates on Violence in Haryana’s Nuh:
In response to the ongoing tensions and reports of arson in sector 70 of Gurugram’s Badshahpur, the Rapid Action Force (RAF) conducted a flag march early on Wednesday. The situation remains tense in the National Capital Region.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar held a press conference and emphasized the importance of maintaining law and order. He announced that a requisition has been made for four additional companies of central forces, adding to the twenty already deployed in the state. Out of these, 14 companies are stationed in Nuh, three in Palwal, two in Gurugram, and one in Faridabad.

The Chief Minister reported that six people have lost their lives in the riots, and authorities have arrested 116 individuals, while 90 others have been detained. Investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible, and Khattar assured that nobody involved will be spared.

To assist the victims, the Chief Minister announced the launch of a scheme that will provide aid to those affected by the violence.

Khattar also mentioned that investigations are underway to determine the involvement of “outsiders” in the riots. He urged that politics should not interfere with the investigative process.

In neighbouring Rajasthan, section 144 has been imposed in ten blocks of Alwar district until August 10, following an incident of mob vandalism in Bhiwari. The Rajasthan administration has deployed security personnel in Bhilwara, a town on the Rajasthan-Haryana border, to prevent violence from spreading.

Nuh Deputy Commissioner Prashant Panwar stated that the curfew in the district will be relaxed from 3 pm to 5 pm, with further actions based on the situation during those two hours. However, schools and colleges in the area will remain closed.

The Supreme Court expressed its hope and trust that authorities would ensure no hate speeches and property damage occurred during the unrest. The court refused a blanket ban on protests and rallies but directed the police to monitor the situation using CCTVs and deploy heavy force.

DGP Haryana PK Aggarwal reported that 20 companies of paramilitary forces have arrived from the Center, with 14 companies deployed in Nuh and approximately 28 companies of state police deployed in different areas of Haryana.

As the situation unfolds, various measures have been implemented, such as the suspension of internet and SMS services in Nuh and the banning of loose petrol or diesel sales in the Gurugram district. Officials are currently scrutinizing CCTV footage and call records to ascertain the identities of the rioters.

The reason for the violence in Nuh was a mob attempting to stop a Vishva Hindu Parishad procession, leading to stone pelting and car fires, resulting in the death of two home guards and injuries to several others, including policemen.

Please note that the situation is subject to change, and it is essential to follow official updates for the latest information.
