Handing-over ceremony of equipment received under DAAD Material Resources Programme
“Collaborations between India and Germany with reference to scientific advancement and research will benefit both the nations”, emphasized Dr. S.B. Mujumdar, Chancellor, Symbiosis International (Deemed University) at the unveiling ceremony of the equipment worth EUR 22,914 for a Project on ‘Production of limonene and trans-carveol in Lactobacillus acidophilus by metabolic engineering of plant genes’ received from DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst). He added, “I congratulate Dr. Ram Kulkarni whose application was selected by DAAD for the grant. The equipment will benefit the research undertaken by Symbiosis School of Biological Sciences.”
Dr. Ram Kulkarni from Symbiosis School of Biological Sciences (SSBS),who is also a DAAD alumnus applied for the DAAD (German Academic Exchange) -Material Resources Programme for Institutions of higher education in developing countries. Among the thousands of applications received, Dr Kulkarni’s application was selected for the grant
Dignitaries present on the occasion – Dr. Jürgen Morhard, Hon’ble Consul General of Germany, Ms Devi Arand Hon. Director, DAAD Pune, Dr Vidya Yeravdekar- Pro-Chancellor, Dr. Rajani Gupte- Vice Chancellor and Dr. Rajiv Yeravdekar , Dean- Faculty of Health and Biological Sciences.
On the occasion Dr Rajiv Yeravdekar, Dean, Faculty of Health and Biological Sciences further added, “We hope collaborations like these in the biological faculty also occur in the future across departments like Symbiosis Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology and Symbiosis Centre for Medical Image Analysis.”
Dr Morhard was highly impressed with the academics, curriculum and the various innovations done at Symbiosis. He appreciated the efforts put in by Dr Ram in this project.
