Jerusalem, 28th October 2023: On the 22nd day of the Israel-Hamas conflict, Israeli security forces reported the elimination of Hamas Air Force Chief Abu Raqaba. Raqaba held responsibility for Hamas’s UAVs, drones, and paragliders. He played a pivotal role in planning the October 7 attack, directing militants who used paragliders to infiltrate southern Israel and coordinating drone strikes on Israel Defense Forces observation posts.

The IDF confirmed the assassination of Murad Abu Murad, the former head of Hamas’s airborne forces, on October 14. Additionally, Sergeant Shirel Haim Paur, aged 20, from Rishon LeZion, was identified as one of the soldiers lost in the October 7 attack. Sergeant Paur served in the Gaza Division, and his name was released to the public after his family was notified. This brings the total number of soldiers, officers, and reservists lost in the conflict to 311.

Overnight ground operations by Israeli Defense Forces in the Gaza Strip led to several clashes with Hamas militants. Thankfully, no soldiers were reported injured in these encounters. Simultaneously, Israeli Air Force fighter planes targeted around 150 underground sites in the northern Gaza Strip.

The IAF confirmed the elimination of Hamas terrorists and the destruction of combat tunnels, underground fighting positions, and other terrorist infrastructure through a Twitter post. Ground operations continue with IDF infantry, combat engineering forces, and tanks still present in the Gaza Strip.

On Friday night, the Houthis, an Iranian proxy organization based in Yemen, launched a cruise missile toward Israel. The missile struck Taba in Egypt, near the Israeli border, injuring six Egyptian security personnel. This marks the second attempt by the Houthis to target Israel, with the previous attempt being intercepted by a US warship. It is noted that the Houthis follow a policy originating from Tehran, aiming to escalate the conflict between Israel and Iranian proxies.

Israel emphasizes its commitment to employ any necessary means to safeguard itself. The international community is urged to hold Iran accountable for the potential escalation of conflict between Israel and the Houthis. Furthermore, Israel condemned the harm caused to Egyptian security forces by missiles and drones launched by the Houthi terrorist organization with the intent of harming Israel.
