Jabalpur/Pune, 23rd May 2024: Suresh Koshta, an office assistant in a power company, is left devastated after the death of his only daughter, Ashwini Koshta, in a tragic accident involving a high-speed Porsche in Pune. The accident, which occurred in the early hours of May 19, claimed the lives of Ashwini and her friend Aneesh Awadhiya, both IT engineers.

As Suresh recounts his ordeal, tears stream down his face. “The engineer daughter was my shoulder. That brat broke my shoulder. To whom should I tell my pain? No one’s tears have stopped for four days. I am poor. I am alone. How will I be able to face that brat?” he laments.

Suresh reveals his fear of confronting the powerful individuals allegedly involved, rumored to have connections with underworld figure Chhota Rajan. “In such a situation, it is not possible to fight alone. If the public supports me, I am ready to fight,” he adds.

The tragic incident occurred at 2:15 am on May 19, when Ashwini and Aneesh, both on a bike, were hit by a Porsche driven by a minor under the influence of alcohol. The car, reportedly traveling at 160 kilometers per hour, struck the bike from behind, killing both on the spot. Ashwini hailed from Jabalpur and Aneesh from Umaria. The minor driver was celebrating his recent 12th board exam results.

Suresh recounted the harrowing moments following the accident. “It was around 2:30 in the night. I was sleeping when I received a call from Ashwini’s friend, urging me to come to Pune quickly. I immediately woke my son and wife and we left without informing them of the full extent of the tragedy,” he says.

The journey to Pune was grueling. “We reached Nagpur at 7 am, then took flights to Ahmedabad and Pune, arriving at the government hospital’s PM House at 5 pm. Ashwini’s body was there, with injury marks and flies buzzing around. It felt abandoned,” Suresh recalls. They spent only five hours in Pune before embarking on an 18-hour journey back to Jabalpur with Ashwini’s body, frequently stopping to check on the body due to the bumpy ride.

Ashwini’s father is still in shock. “Every morning, my daughter used to talk to me before I did my puja. Even after five months in Pune, not a day passed without her calling. She was preparing for my birthday next month,” he says, his voice breaking.

Aneesh Awadhiya, another victim, had moved to Pune for his graduation and had secured a job post-college. He too lost his life in the tragic accident.

Suresh Koshta pleads for stricter laws to prevent such tragedies. “I have two children. Both were my support in old age. Now, one shoulder is gone. To ensure no one else suffers like this, there should be strict action against such people,” he urges.
