Government Hostels Open Admissions for Backward Class Students in Pune District

Pune, 1st July 2024: The admission process for government hostels in the district, managed by the Social Justice and Special Assistance Department, has commenced. The Social Welfare Department has urged backward class students to secure their admissions within the prescribed period.

A total of 23 government hostels for backward class boys and girls are operating in the district under the Department of Social Justice and Special Assistance. This includes 13 boys’ hostels and 10 girls’ hostels. Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad cities have 11 government hostels in total, with 4 for girls and 7 for boys. Additionally, there are 12 hostels in rural areas.

For the academic year 2024-25, the student admission process has started at the educational institution level. The Social Welfare Department has released the government hostel admission schedule for boys and girls, with admissions being conducted offline.

The first selection list for school student admissions has been published. The last date for these students to secure admission is July 5. For students admitted to courses after class 10th and 11th, excluding vocational courses, the application period for offline admission is until July 31, with the first selection list to be published by August 5.

Students seeking admission to BA, B.Com, and B.Sc programs have until July 31 to apply for offline admission. The deadline for the publication of the selection list is August 5. The timetable for government hostel admissions for vocational courses will be published separately.

In Pune city, application forms for boys’ government hostels can be obtained and submitted at Sant Dnyaneshwar Boys Government Hostel, Vishrantwadi, Pune-6. For girls’ government hostels, forms can be obtained and submitted at Sant Janabai Girls Government Hostel, near Commerzone IT Park, Yerwada, Pune. In Pimpri-Chinchwad city, Khadakwasla, and the taluka levels of the rest of Pune district, the distribution and acceptance of applications will be done at the respective hostels.
