New Delhi, May 14, 2020: There is good news for ordinary citizens who wish to serve the country by joining the army. Soon the Indian Army can offer civilians a chance to join the army for three years. For this, the Army is considering a proposal of ‘Tour of Duty’. If everything goes as per plan, it can be announced soon. Under the proposal, the candidate to be selected under the ‘Tour of Duty’ will have to serve in the army for three years. More information about the proposal is yet to come.

Under the new scheme, the army wants to attract the talented youth of the country. Through this scheme, those youth will also be able to join the army, who for some reason were not able to join earlier. There is a shortage of officers in the Indian Army. The army wants to fill this shortfall under this plan. At present, through the Short Service Commission (SSC), the youths are given the opportunity to join the army for 10 years. Earlier, the youth recruited through it had a tenure of 5 years, which was increased to 10 years.

The Army is also considering that paramilitary personnel, central armed police force (CAPF), should also be given a chance to work in the army for some time. The Army is considering a proposal called the ‘inverse induction model’, under which central paramilitary forces personnel can be given a chance to work in the army for some time.
