Gang Attacks Youth in Pune Over Alleged Police Tip-Off

Kondhwa, 29th July 2024: In Pune’s Kondhwa area, a gang attacked a young man, suspecting he had informed the police about their addresses. The assailants, armed with a koyta, tried to instill fear and threatened several local residents. A case has been filed against a minor and two others in connection with the incident.

The injured youth, Mohammad Pyare Shaikh, 27, a Kondhwa resident, lodged a complaint at the Kondhwa Police Station. The complaint led to the registration of a case against Taher Iftigar Shaikh, 18, and Arbaz Ilias Khan, 25, both also from Kondhwa.

According to police reports, the attackers believed Mohammad had reported the address of Arbaz Khan to the police. Mohammad, who is known to the accused, was ambushed on Thursday evening while leaving the Konark Pooram area. The assailants confronted him with the question, “Did you show our home to the police?” before attacking him with a koyta, stabbing him in the head. During their escape, the gang members threatened other citizens and created a scene.
