Pimpri Chinchwad, 6th September 2024: As Ganeshotsav begins tomorrow, one of the biggest festivals celebrated with enthusiasm in Maharashtra, people across Pimpri Chinchwad are busy bringing home Ganpati idols and shopping for worship and decoration items. Traffic has been heavier than usual in almost all areas, but the excitement over Ganraya’s arrival tomorrow keeps everyone cheerful.

Ganeshotsav rises above religious and geographical boundaries, celebrated by everyone, everywhere. Many will host Ganesh idols in their homes for varying durations—1.5, 5, 7, 11, 14, or even 21 days. Those who don’t bring idols home join Public Ganesh Mandals, a tradition dating back to pre-independence India, popularized by Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak to unite Indians against British rule. He transformed the festival into a public event, promoting unity, patriotism, and cultural pride.

Aside from shopping and welcoming Ganpati, Dhol Tasha Pathak and Dhwaj Pathak are holding their final rehearsals. Folk and other art forms like singing and dance are in demand, with artists performing everywhere during this festive period. Tomorrow, Pimpri Chinchwad will be immersed in Ganeshotsav fever. Traffic is expected to be heavy in certain areas due to the excitement. Long queues of vehicles were seen on all roads, including Pimpri, Chinchwad, Ravet, Wakad, Sangvi, Rahatani, Bhosari, Chikhali, Nigdi, Akurdi, and others. Pimpri Chinchwad Police have deployed officers to manage the crowds and maintain order amidst the celebrations.

Speaking about the management for Ganeshotsav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Bapu Bangar told Punekar News, “We expect traffic congestion in multiple areas due to Ganeshotsav. However, we have deployed sufficient enforcement, and our officials are working to prevent it. We urge citizens to follow traffic rules and celebrate our beloved Ganeshotsav with enthusiasm, but also with care for traffic norms.”
