Kothrud, 12th January 2024: A thwarted attempt on the life of notorious goon Sharad Mohol in October has led investigators to a startling revelation. The assailants involved in the failed assassination allegedly held a meeting with accused lawyers Adv. Ravindra Pawar and Adv. Sanjay Udan in the Pirangut area. The investigators claim that these lawyers were privy to the mastermind behind Mohol’s murder, a shocking development that unfolded in court on Thursday.

In light of these allegations, Adv. Ravindra Pawar and Adv. Sanjay Udan has been remanded to judicial custody. Additionally, the newly arrested suspects, Dhananjay Maruti Vatkar and Satish Sanjay Shedge are now under seven days of police custody. The Crime Branch presented all four accused in court after the expiration of their initial police custody.

The investigation suggests that after the failed attempt, accused Sahil alias Munna Santosh Polekar and Namdev Mahipati Kangude held a meeting with the accused lawyers in Pirangut.

ACP (Crime Branch) Sunil Tambe revealed in court, “We want to find out where exactly these accused met, who else was with them.” The accused lawyers reportedly met the murderers while on the run, throwing away an old SIM card and using a new one to make a call.

Investigators disclosed that the recently arrested suspects, Dhananjay Vatkar and Satish Shedge, ordered four weapons from Madhya Pradesh, which were later handed over to the assailants. Three of these weapons have been seized, and efforts are underway to trace the fourth weapon and identify its distributor.

The defence presented by the accused lawyers, claiming they were assisting the assailants in surrendering, was debunked by investigating officials. Despite advice from Assistant Police Inspector Harshal Kadam to surrender at a designated location, the accused lawyers allegedly steered in the opposite direction, evading arrest.

The court proceedings witnessed a substantial turnout of lawyers as the accused lawyers were presented for the Sharad Mohol murder case hearing.
