Freedom sites dominate the tourist map this Independence Day

Mumbai, August 1, 2018: The upcoming Independence Day presents an excellent opportunity to take 4-5 days long trip as it is a Wednesday followed by Pateti (Thursday) and Parsi New Year (Friday). As a result, there is a significant rise in weekend travel enquiries, at least 18 per cent more than the last year.

Talking about the travel trends for the Independence Day weekend, Karan Anand, Head Relationships, Cox & Kings said, “Major travel movement is underway in and around the Independence Day Weekend across the country mainly from all tier I & II cities. Sabarmati Aashram in Ahmedabad is another landmark which was home to Mahatma Gandhi from 1917 until 1930 and served as one of the main centres of the Indian freedom struggle. People visiting Port Blair never miss a visit to Cellular Jail that stood mute witness to the tortures meted out to the freedom fighters, who were incarcerated in this jail. Similarly travellers have also showed interest in Mani Bhavan and August Kranti Maidan (Mumbai), Jhansi Fort (Uttar Pradesh), Netaji Bhavan (Kolkata) and Aga Khan Palace, Kesari Wada (Pune) among many other freedom sites scattered across India.
