Free Vaccination Campaign For Construction Workers Starts In Pune
Pune, 28 August 2021: The free vaccination campaign for construction workers being implemented by CREDAI-Pune Metro was launched today in the presence of Pune Municipal Commissioner, Vikram Kumar.
The vaccination campaign was jointly organized by VTP Realty, ACT Grant and Haqdarshak at VTP Realty’s Blue Waters construction project at Mahalunge. About 3,400 construction workers were vaccinated on the first day of the campaign and as many as 35,000 construction workers in the city will be vaccinated in the near future.
CREDAI- Pune Metro members including Ranjit Naiknavare and Manish Jain, Vice Presidents, Arvind Jain, Secretary and Dr. D. K. Abhyankar, Director General, Members of VTP Realty including VT Palresha, Chief Managing Director, Nilesh Palresha, Executive Director, Sachin Bhandari, CEO, Santosh Jain, Director and Ramakant Sharma, Vice President, Bikas Agarwal, Divisional Business Head of Apollo Clinic, Sapna Rathi, CREDAI Pune Metro – Workers Welfare Committee Coordinator and other Committee Members including Milind Talathi, Parag Patil, Leena Kukreja, Navin Agarwal, Archana Badera, Anup Jamtani and Commercial Executive Santosh Takbhate among others were present on the occasion.
Praising the free vaccination campaign implemented by CREDAI Pune Metro, Vikram Kumar said “Besides development of the city, the construction sector also plays a major role in job creation. Therefore, it is important for the labourers to be vaccinated. The Corporation will fully support the initiative undertaken by CREDAI and will also try to supply the necessary doctors, nurses and vaccines required for this campaign.”
Ranjit Naiknavare said, “During the COVID period, CREDAI-Pune Metro took care of the health check-up of the workers, their official registration and other necessary facilities for them in the labour camp and also provided crèche for their children. In addition, we are conducting this free vaccination campaign for their complete safety. Since it is not possible to take so many labourers to the municipal vaccination centres, we want the authorities to conduct vaccinations at construction projects. As vaccinating the families of the workers is also important, the municipality should cooperate with us and provide more vaccines.”
“At the beginning of the campaign, we thought that we have to create awareness among workers to get vaccinated. However, we found that 99 per cent of the workers were optimistic about getting vaccinated. We are trying to give both the doses to the workers and get them fully vaccinated. Many companies have come forward to help under social responsibility initiatives, but still the corporation should cooperate with us to make the right amount of vaccines available,” said Arvind Jain.
