Free Bus Service Commences at Savitribai Phule Pune University

Pune, 6th December 2023: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has initiated a complimentary bus service for convenient transportation within the university premises. The service, commencing at 10:30 am, aims to facilitate students and citizens in reaching various significant locations within the university.

The vast expanse of the university posed challenges for students, professors, staff, and visitors without personal vehicles. Recognizing this, the university administration decided to introduce this much-needed service. Initially, two buses have been allocated, operating from the main entrance and stopping at 13 key locations, including major departments and offices. Depending on the response, more stops may be added, and informational boards will be installed accordingly. Additionally, the university administration plans to develop a dedicated application for the bus service in the near future.

4. Jaykar Knowledge Resource Center (Jaykar Library)

5. Department of Chemistry

6. Department of Examination

7. International Centre

8. Main Building

9. Department of Technology

10. Girls Hostel

11. Health Centre

12. Pumba

13. Boys Hostel

14. Main Gate

Bus Schedule:

Every half hour starting from 10:30 am

Dr. Suresh Gosavi, Vice Chancellor of Savitribai Phule Pune University, expressed, “This service will undoubtedly assist students, professors, staff, and citizens. The university is actively working on an app to enhance the user experience, providing real-time information about the bus’s location and estimated arrival times at each stop.”

Dr. Vijay Khare, In-charge Registrar at Savitribai Phule Pune University, commented, “Previously, students and citizens had to endure considerable walking upon entering the university. The introduction of this service with two CNG buses has alleviated this challenge. We plan to further develop this eco-friendly service to maximize its accessibility for a larger audience.”
