Pune, 4th June 2021: The former senate member of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), Professor Dhananjay Kulkarni intends to file a petition regarding the 10th standard assessment. He said that it is inappropriate to announce the results of the 10th board based on the marks of the ninth standard and the internal assessment of class 10th.

Kulkarni had earlier filed a petition in the Bombay High Court regarding the result of the 10th board exam. After that, the state government of Maharashtra declared that those students who want to take the exam can do so, as the government will conduct the 10th Board exams after the pandemic. Furthermore, the CET admission process will be conducted for acceptance in Junior Colleges. The petition in the High Court had been withdrawn after this clarification. However, Kulkarni said that he would file the petition again in connection with the said issue.

“The petition was filed in the court to maintain the quality of education. It was never intended to endanger the lives of the students,” said Kulkarni. Due to the pandemic, the schools were not open; therefore, it is difficult to assess 70% of the students.

Students of class 9th and 10th have not been properly evaluated. He also raised the serious question of evaluating the students who have filled the re-examination form.

“The government has not taken a proper decision regarding SSC and HSC Board examinations. So, a decision needs to be taken to file a petition in the court, after discussing with the individuals working in the field of education,” said Kulkarni.
