Five Held in Connection with Deadly Knife Attack on Three Friends in Pimpri Chinchwad

Pimpri Chinchwad, 12th October 2024: Five individuals have been arrested by the Crime Branch of the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC) in connection with a fatal attack on three friends that occurred late on the night of 7th October.

The assailants attacked the trio over a financial dispute related to a mobile phone, leading to the death of one person and injuries to the other two. Despite continuously changing their locations, the suspects were eventually detained in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The operation was carried out by Unit 3 of the Crime Branch.

The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Akash Chandrakant Pardeshi, a resident of Bhosari. His injured friends, Kartik Sabe and Jayesh Patekar, survived the attack. A complaint was filed at Dighi Police Station by Pardeshi’s sister. Those arrested include Satyajeet Shankar Kamble (23), Nikhil Rajiv Kamble (21), Mahendra Kamble (31), Ramesh Namdev Kamble, and Devanand, also known as Gaurav Ramesh Kamble. All five suspects are residents of Bhosari and natives of Nanded.

A case has been registered against the suspects and their unidentified accomplices under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including 103 (punishment for murder), 118(1) (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and 3(5) (acts done by several individuals in furtherance of common intention).

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Doiphode provided details of the incident. On 7th October, around 11 PM, the PCPC Control Room received a call reporting that Pardeshi and his friends had been beaten and stabbed by a group following a demand for the return of money related to a mobile phone. Pardeshi succumbed to his injuries shortly after the attack. The suspects fled the scene, threatening to kill the victims if they contacted the police.

Crime Branch Unit 3 took charge of the investigation, forming three teams to track down the suspects. A technical analysis of the case led to a search across multiple locations, including Dighi, Karla, Lonavala, Mumbai, and Nanded. The suspects constantly changed locations to evade capture, but they were eventually tracked down. On 10th October, Satyajeet and Nikhil Kamble were arrested in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The remaining suspects were apprehended in Nanded while attempting to flee to Telangana. The trio was captured in a forest, and all five suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime.

This successful operation was carried out under the guidance of Pimpri Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey, Joint Commissioner of Police Dr. Shashikant Mahavarkar, Additional Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Doiphode, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Dr. Vishal Hire.

Senior Police Inspector Shailesh Gaikwad, in charge of Unit 3, led the operation, supported by a team of police constables including Yadu Adhari, Sachin More, Vitthal Sanap, Sandeep Sonawane, Pradeep Rale, Manoj Sable, Rushikesh Bhosure, Sagar Jainak, Rajkumar Hanmante, Ramdas Mergal, Yogeshwar Kolekar, Trinayan Balsaraf, Sameer Kale, Shashikant Nangare, Rahul Suryawanshi, and Nagesh Mali.
