Fire at Pune’s Mandai Metro Station Brought Under Control, No Impact on Services

Pune, 21st October 2024: A fire broke out at Pune Metro’s Mandai station around midnight, sparking concern but ultimately causing no major damage or service disruption. The incident occurred when foam material caught fire during welding work. A thick cloud of smoke engulfed the station, prompting an immediate response from the Pune Fire Brigade.

Pune MP and Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol took to Twitter to assure the public, stating, “The unfortunate incident of fire at Mandai Metro station happened some time ago. As soon as the news of the fire was received, five fire engines of Pune Municipal Corporation managed to control the fire immediately.”

Mohol also confirmed that the incident occurred after passenger services had ended for the day and that it was linked to ongoing welding work in the upper section of the station.

He further reassured the public, saying, “This incident will not have any impact on Metro services,” citing information from Pune Metro’s Executive Director, Shravan Hardikar.
