New Delhi, 14th October 2024: The world’s richest man and SpaceX founder Elon Musk has written a new chapter. Musk’s SpaceX launched the mega Starship rocket on Sunday (13th October). The Starship rocket flew at the time of sunrise from the southern tip of Texas near the Mexican border.

The height of the Starship is about 400 feet i.e. 121 meters making it the tallest and most powerful rocket ever with 33 methane-fueled engines on the booster alone. Starship can carry about 150 tons of payload. Not only this, it has 33 Raptor engines installed, which make it very powerful. The speed of this rocket is about 27,000 km/h. The said rocket is said to be re-usable, that is, if the Starship fails to fly once, it can be flown a second time as well.

The test conducted by SpaceX was stated as the most daring and also the most successful test. Earlier, the test conducted by SpaceX in June 2024 was the most successful which completed its flight without an explosion. The test conducted on Sunday is the fifth test of the Starship rocket.

NASA has ordered two Starships to land astronauts on the moon later this decade. SpaceX intends to use Starships to send people and supplies to the moon and Mars.

Many tests have been done for Starship before. In the test conducted on 14th March 2024, contact with Starship was lost after re-entry. At that time SpaceX had stated that this happened due to some technical flaws. According to SpaceX, at that time Starship was not able to survive during re-entry. Talking about the second test, the test was not successful due to problems in stage separation.
