Electricity Supply Shut Down For 3,050 Consumers In Flooded Areas Of Pune And Pimpri Chinchwad

Pune, 4th August 2024: Due to continuous rain and water discharge from dams, electricity supply to approximately 3,050 consumers in Pune, Pimpri city, and the talukas of Khed, Maval, and Ambegaon has been shut down for safety reasons.

In the wake of water discharge from Khadakwasla Dam, about 1,950 electricity consumers in the Deccan area, including Pulachi Wadi and Prem Nagar, have been affected. Additionally, power has been cut off for 450 consumers in seven societies in Ektanagari on Sinhagad Road, 100 consumers in Bhim Nagar, Balewadi, 400 in Shanti Nagar and Indira Nagar, Vishrantwadi, 450 in the Juna Bazar area, Mangalwar Peth, and 450 in the Tadiwala Road area. In Pimpri, 400 consumers in Sanjay Gandhi Nagar and Pimpri Camp have also had their power supply stopped for safety reasons.

In the Khed taluka, electricity supply to around 700 consumers in Vadivale, Valkh, Budhwadi, Sangise, Nesave, Khandshi, and Sakurdi, Kahu, Vetale, Saigaon Kothule has been cut off due to the power system being submerged under floodwaters.

Landslides have been reported in the villages of Panchale Khurd and Vachpe, located at the foot of the hill in Ambegaon taluka, leading to the relocation of residents. For safety purposes, electricity supply to about 15 consumers in these areas has also been halted.

The proactive measures are aimed at preventing any accidents and ensuring the safety of residents amidst the heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and will restore power once conditions stabilize.
