Baramati, 6th January 2024: In a significant development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids on six offices of MLA Rohit Pawar’s Baramati Agro Company, spanning Pune, Pimpri, Baramati, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad). The operation reportedly resulted in the seizure of crucial documents, sparking controversy and political reactions.

ED officials carried out the raids on Friday, targeting Baramati Agro Company offices associated with MLA Rohit Pawar, who also serves as the company’s CEO. The offices in Pune, Baramati, Pimpri, and Aurangabad were searched, and important documents were reportedly confiscated during the operation.

Baramati Agro Company, under the leadership of MLA Rohit Pawar, acquired the Kannada Co-Operative Sugar Factory in an auction process, purchasing it for Rs 50 crore from the Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank. The ED’s action follows a complaint from a BJP leader alleging malpractices during the auction.

The ED’s move has stirred political reactions, with Rohit Pawar currently abroad. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), belonging to the Sharad Pawar group, asserted that the recently concluded ‘Yuva Sangharsh Yatra’ led by Rohit Pawar had generated an atmosphere of insecurity within the BJP.

Responding to the ED raids, Rohit Pawar took to social media to express his thoughts. He highlighted the progressive thinking and self-respecting ethos of Maharashtra, emphasizing the need for preparedness in the face of conflict to preserve Maharashtrian values. Pawar’s recent ‘Yuva Sangharsh Yatra’ from Pune to Nagpur adds a political backdrop to the ED’s actions.

No official response has been received from Baramati Agro Company as of now. With Rohit Pawar currently abroad, the ED’s investigation into the alleged malpractices in the auction process adds intrigue to the unfolding political scenario. The authorities have initiated a thorough examination of the seized documents as the situation continues to evolve.
