Pune, 8th September 2024: The challenges faced in expanding higher education, particularly its infrastructure, are significant. Education should be more student-centric rather than teacher-centric, and knowledge is easily accessible to those who effectively use technology. In this context, e-learning has emerged as a transformative tool for the education sector. This was the key message delivered by renowned writer and actor Srirang Godbole during a workshop.

The event, organized to mark the anniversary of the Pune District Education Association and International Literacy Day, focused on the theme of “E-Literature Creation and Effective Presentation of ICT.” It was held at Annasaheb Magar College in collaboration with the Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension of Savitribai Phule Pune University. Srirang Godbole inaugurated the workshop, which also featured Dr. Vilas Adhav, Director of the Lifelong Learning and Extension Department.

The program was presided over by Dr. Nitin Ghorpade, Principal of the college and a member of the Management Council of Savitribai Phule Pune University.

In his address, Dr. Vilas Adhav highlighted that while International Literacy Day was originally celebrated to combat illiteracy, the growing influence of information technology has led to a new form of illiteracy among non-users of technology.

Dr. Nitin Ghorpade, speaking about the new education policy, emphasized that the University Grants Commission now includes 40% of online teaching and learning. As a result, the creation of e-content has become increasingly important.

Present at the workshop were Vice Principal Dr. Shubhangi Auti, Dr. Prashant Mule, Prof. Anil Jagtap, Dr. Ramakant Joshi, and Office Superintendent Ganesh Sable, among others. Dr. Savita Kulkarni beautifully introduced the program, while Dr. Prashant Mule delivered the vote of thanks. Prof. Sangeeta Devkar efficiently coordinated the event.

The workshop was both effectively organized and executed, offering valuable insights into the role of e-learning in modern education.
