DRDO Lab Director In Pune Arrested For Sharing Sensitive Information With Pakistan Intelligence Operative

Pune, 4th May 2023: A DRDO scientist in Pune has been accused of illegally providing sensitive information to Pakistan’s intelligence agency through social media platforms such as WhatsApp, voice messages, and video calls while on duty. This illegal activity has raised concerns about the security of India if the sensitive information falls into the wrong hands.

The arrested accused has been identified as PM Kurulkar, Director, Research & Development Establishment (Engrs.), [R&DE(E)], a premier Systems Engineering Laboratory of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), located on Alandi Road in Vishrantwadi. Today he was produced before a court which has remanded him to police custody till 9th May.

The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) Maharashtra has registered an FIR at its Kalachowki police station in Mumbai for offences under the Official Secrets Act 1923. The case is being investigated by the Inspector-in-Charge of the Anti-Terrorism Squad Pune Unit.

According to officials, there was complaint from the DRDO following which surveillance was mounted and he was arrested. He is suspected to have been honey-trapped.
