Digvijay Singh enter Semifinals at 25K MSLTA Mumbai Open Tennis Championships

Mumbai, November 18: In a All Indian Battle unseeded Digvijay Pratap Singh upset sixth seeded Sidharth Rawat 2-6 6-4 6-4 to enter the Men’s Singles Semifinals at the 25K MSLTA Mumbai Open Tennis Championships being organised by MSLTA and played on their tennis courts at the GA Ranade Tennis Center

 

Digvijay who had won the $15000 event in Delhi two weeks ago came back from the loss of the first set to upset the higher ranked Rawat in a 2 hour 10 minute match , The Indian will now take on 971 ranked Japanese Ryuki Matsuda who snuffed out the challenge of Indian Siddharth Vishwakarma 7-6(6) 6-1 in a quarterfinal bout today.

 

Top seeded Oliver Crawford of the USA out rallied Niki Kaliyanda Poonacha 6-2 6-0 to make the third semi final in a row , he will take on fourth seeded Dominik Palan of the Czech Republic who took an hour to end the challenge of Japanese Qualifier Kazuki Nishiwaki 6-1 6-2.

 

Second seeds Rithvik Choudary Bollipalli and Niki Kaliyanda Poonacha will look at their third title in a row reaching the doubles finals , in the semifinals they recorded a 6-3 6-2 win over another Indian pair of Tushar Madan and Jagmeet Singh . In the finals the Bollipalli/ Poonacha pair will take on topseeds Vladyslav Orlov of Ukraine and Indian Vishnu Vardhan who pulled all their experience to quell the challenge of Faisal Qamar and Nitin Kumar Sinha winning 6-7(4) 6-1 [10-8]
