Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar Unveils Vision for Pune’s All-Round Development through Infrastructure Boost

Shivajinagar, 26th January 2024: In a significant Republic Day address at the Police Ground, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, also the Guardian Minister of Pune district, underscored the commitment to fostering comprehensive growth through robust infrastructure development.

Acknowledging Pune’s rapid urbanization, Pawar emphasized the ongoing efforts to propel progress via extensive road networks, metro lines, and railway connectivity. Notably, the Khopoli to Khandala missing link project is nearing completion, contributing to the overall transportation framework. Various initiatives have been initiated to streamline traffic within the city, and Pawar urged citizens to collaborate for the success of these endeavors.

Characterizing Pune as the educational and cultural capital, Pawar highlighted substantial financial allocations for fort development, historical sites, Ashtavinayaks, pilgrimage spots, and national monuments across the district. He announced plans for an inspiring memorial at Bhidewada, dedicated to showcasing the achievements of Gnyanjyoti Savitribai Phule.

Addressing the effective implementation of government schemes, Pawar pointed to the Pradhan Mantri Shetkari Samman Nidhi Yojana benefiting farmers financially. The recently launched ‘Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Yojana’ is set to provide annual benefits to farmer families, with a particular emphasis on the Chief Minister Solar Agriculture Vahini Yojana to ensure daytime electricity for farmers. The district’s focus also extends to the development of power substations and channels, with a proposed annual budget of Rs 948 crore for the general district annual plan, along with an additional demand of Rs 400 crore.

Highlighting Pune’s national recognition in Swachh Survekshan 2023 for the second consecutive time, Pawar expressed pride in the district’s cleanliness efforts. He called upon citizens to maintain this standard and play an active role in the state’s progress, emphasizing the collective responsibility of strengthening the country’s democracy. In closing, Pawar urged everyone to unite in the pursuit of a cleaner, more prosperous Pune and a stronger democratic nation.
