Delhi-Pune Flight Returns To Delhi Airport After Crack On Windshield, Passengers Safe

Pune 23rd August 2023: A Delhi-Pune flight of Vistara was returned to Delhi half-an-hour after take off due to a crack on the windshield. The flight carrying over 100 passengers departed from Delhi Airport at around 5:20 am and it was supposed to land at the Pune Airport at 7:50 am. The incident sparked panic among passengers as the massive turbulence continued for around 90 seconds.

“Vistara Flight UK 991, flying from Delhi to Pune, encountered adverse weather soon after take-off, resulting in a crack in its windshield. As a precautionary step, the pilot decided to turn back and the aircraft was landed at the IGI Airport, Delhi. An alternative aircraft was immediately arranged. The inconvenience caused to consumers is deeply regretted. As always, safety of our customers and crew is most important to Vistara” the Spokesperson of the airline said.

The passengers were boarded in an alternate flight after landing at the Delhi Airport. and they were taken to Pune by the airline. However, a major accident was averted due to alertness of the pilot. In a similar incident reported in April this year, a Pune-Delhi flight of Air India was also landed ahead of scheduled time at the Delhi Airport due to cracked windshield. An emergency was declared at the Delhi Airport at the time of landing and the flight was carrying over 180 passengers.
