New Delhi, 18th March 2025: Due to ongoing repair work on the expansion joint of the flyover near Ghazipur on the Delhi Meerut Expressway, drivers can expect heavy traffic congestion for the next eight days. Commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly, as the repairs are expected to cause significant delays during peak travel hours. The repair work on the expansion joint near Ghazipur is still causing long delays for drivers, even though it’s more than halfway done.

On Monday night, there was a traffic jam of about three kilometers from Ghazipur to Khichripur. Without any policemen around to manage the situation, drivers ended up taking 40 minutes to complete what should have been a 15-minute journey. People are getting frustrated with these daily jams, especially during rush hours when they’re heading to or from work. Many commuters from Ghaziabad pass through the expressway to get to Delhi, adding to the traffic problems.

Motorists stuck in traffic jams have expressed frustration, urging the NHAI and police to take the issue more seriously. Drivers are calling for better arrangements to ensure that repair work continues smoothly without causing further congestion. Due to the ongoing jams, many drivers are forced to leave one to one and a half hours earlier than usual, leading to delays in reaching their destinations. NHAI officials have assured that the repair work near Ghazipur will be completed by March 25, and security guards have been deployed near the site to minimize inconvenience to commuters.

To help ease the traffic congestion at Sonia Vihar Pushta, a temporary parallel path has been constructed. This new route is expected to reduce the jams along the embankment. Over the past two years, Pushta Road, which has been a single-lane road, has witnessed 25 fatalities and around 80 accidents. In addition to these accidents, the daily traffic jams have become a major inconvenience for commuters. Responding to the ongoing issue, Karawal Nagar MLA and Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra has taken action by building a temporary road along the side of Khadar. Machines have removed the stones from the area, and the ground has been leveled to ensure smoother driving. The MLA mentioned that the temporary road will provide relief for motorists, allowing them to bypass the congestion on Pushta Road when needed.

This new path stretches from the zero embankment to the third embankment. However, local residents suggest that if the embankment were integrated with the newly constructed road, it could provide a long-term solution to the traffic problems. Unfortunately, due to the Khadar area, a permanent fix has yet to be achieved.

Pushta Road remains a crucial link between Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. While temporary solutions like the parallel path at Sonia Vihar Pushta offer some relief, long-term fixes are still needed to address the chronic traffic issues. Authorities remain hopeful that the completion of repairs by March 25 will bring significant improvements.
