Nuh, India, 10th August 2023: Munfed and Saikul, who were accused of involvement in the recent violence, were apprehended on Thursday from Silkho village in Tawdu town within the Haryana district. Law enforcement personnel confirmed that the arrests were carried out after a confrontation. The suspects were found in possession of an illegal homemade firearm called a ‘katta’ and a motorcycle.

The clashes that occurred in Nuh, a predominantly Muslim area, led to the deaths of six individuals, including two home guards and a religious leader. These clashes transpired when a procession organized by the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) known as the Braj Mandal Yatra was targeted by mobs on July 31. Additionally, Gurugram experienced isolated incidents of violence.

A ‘maha panchayat’ was arranged in Baas village, located in the Hisar district, with representatives from diverse faiths, farming associations, and local councils convening to discuss the reinforcement of communal ties.

This maha panchayat, facilitated by the Bhartiya Kisan Mazdoor Union, witnessed the participation of Hindus, Muslims, and Sikhs. A resolution was unanimously adopted during the event, emphasizing collaborative efforts across religious lines to restore tranquillity in the Mewat region.

The resolution called upon the government to conduct an impartial investigation into the matter, apprehend the guilty parties, and promptly take action against individuals who use social media to disseminate provocative content that incites unrest within society.

Suresh Koth, an organizer and member of the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha, asserted that the state of Haryana should not be used as a platform to sow division based on caste or religion.

He also condemned certain leaders from panchayats in Mahendergarh, Rewari, and Jhajjar districts for purportedly issuing letters that discriminated against Muslim traders in their respective villages.

Several speakers from the Muslim community at the event highlighted the importance of drawing lessons from epics like the Mahabharata and Ramayana. They stressed the necessity of walking together as a unified community and cultivating mutual love and respect, thereby rejecting any form of hatred.
