Crime Branch Arrests Woman For Duping Over 16 People Through Dating Apps Tinder, Bumble

Pimpri Chinchwad, February 2, 2021: The Crime Branch Unit 4 of Pimpri Chinchwad police have arrested Sailee Devendra Kale (27)of Camp, Pune, allegedly for duping youths through a dating application. So far, the woman has cheated 16 youths. 

The police have seized about 289 grams of gold ornaments worth Rs 15 lakh 25 thousand from her possession, informed Commissioner of Police Krishna Prakash during a press conference. 

On December 10, 2020, the accused visited a young man at his house and made him unconscious by offering him drink laced with sedatives. After which, she stole jewellery, cash and mobile, looting him of a total of Rs 1.85 lakh from him. 

The crime has been registered at the Dehroad police station. Crime Branch unit 4 led by Police Inspector Prasad Gokule was conducting parallel investigation.  

Assistant Police Inspector Ambareesh Deshmukh, Police constable Praveen, Police Naik Tushar Rote, Gautam Nadaf and Prashant Said obtained information about the young woman. 

How she was arrested?

The police created a fake profile on the dating application, however, the woman did not respond for many days. Meanwhile, the woman had contacted a young man from Chennai on a dating site and asked him to meet at a Sayaji Hotel in Wakad.

After making him unconscious, she looted his golden chain and valuable items worth Rs 1.5 lakh. The case was registered at Wakad Police station. 

Due to similarity in both cases, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sudhir Hiremath accepted a request to create a fake profile to solve the case. On January 26, police identified her and then arrested her. 

The arrested accused has confessed to her crime. She told police that her father was a retired colonel. He was admitted to Ruby Hall hospital as he was suffering from cancer. As her mother was ill, it was easy for her to procure medicines to make a person unconscious. 

Her brother worked at a call centre and she was working in a telecom company. She had lost her job during the COVID-19 induced lockdown. She needed money and hence she was robbing people, she told the police.

Avoid such apps

Commissioner of Police Krishna Prakash has appealed to the people to stay away from such dating sites. “If a person is victimized or cheated, then they can come to the police and file their complaint. Their privacy will be kept secret,” he informed. 

The action was taken under the guidance of Commissioner Krishna Prakash, Additional Commissioner of Police Ramnath Pokale, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sudhir Hiremath, Assistant Commissioners of Police Rajaram Patil and Prerna Katte.
