Delhi, 23rd July 2024: In a significant judicial development, the Delhi High Court has issued an order mandating the removal of certain social media posts that allegedly defamed Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and his daughter, Anjali Birla. The posts in question claimed that Anjali Birla secured success in the UPSC examinations primarily due to her father’s influence.

Justice Navin Chawla presided over the case and directed prominent tech giants Twitter and Google to ensure the removal of these contentious posts from their respective platforms within 24 hours. The court’s decision came in response to a petition filed by Om Birla seeking action against what he termed as baseless allegations aimed at tarnishing his and his daughter’s reputation.
