Coronavirus cases rise to 708 in Pune city, 64 in PCMC areas

Pune, April 21, 2020: The number of Coronavirus positive patients has reached 813 in Pune district today including 708 from areas under Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and 64 from Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) areas. A total of 53 persons have died in the district.

 

According to Pune Mayor Murlidhar Mohol, there were 42 new patients today, taking Pune city’s total number of Coronavirus Positive cases to 708. Corona patients in Pune city are increasing day by day. Till now 51 patients have died while 87 have been cured and discharged. A total of 19 persons including 15 from the same family were discharged today after getting cured of COVID19. Among those discharged are a 92-year-old woman and a 3-year-old girl. A 51-year-old woman succumbed to Coronavirus during treatment at a private hospital.

 

PCMC officials said that out of 64 patients 18 have been cured and discharged while two persons – a male and a female – have died till now. All areas under PMC and PCMC have been declared as containment zone and they have been sealed.

 

A team from Central government is in Pune and they visited different areas, hospitals and shelter homes besides interacting with PMC officials. On Wednesday, they will visit Pimpri Chinchwad.

 

Out of these 890 patients, 813 COVID19 patients are from Pune district where 53 patients have died. In Satara district, out of 16 infected patients, 2 patients have died. Solapur district has 25 affected patients and 2 have died. Sangli district has 27 affected patients and 1 patient has died. There are 9 affected patients in Kolhapur district. Till now 10,034 samples of people from these districts have been tested for Coronavirus.

 

Till date, 44 lakh 5 thousand 369 houses in the division have been surveyed and 1 crore 67 lakh 77 thousand 649 persons have been screened for symptoms of COVID19. Of these, 828 individuals have been referred for further medical investigation.

 

Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said, “The current count of COVID19 patients in the state of Maharashtra is 5218. Today newly 552 patients have been identified as positive for Covid19. From these,772 Covid19 patients have been cured and discharged from the respective hospitals.”
