Pune, 7th November 2023: In a surprising turn of events, 55-year-old Chenxi Yin, a Chinese national, who initially came to India for English studies at the Symbiosis Institute two years ago, has left the country after gaining admission to defence studies at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU).

Yin’s enrollment in defence studies raised eyebrows due to her age and alleged connections with armed forces officials, prompting authorities to investigate further. Sources suggest that her departure in September was influenced by the increasing suspicion surrounding her background.

Pune City Police confirmed that Yin left India after obtaining exit permission. The investigation revealed her previous profession as a Chartered Accountant (CA), raising questions about her sudden shift to defence studies.

During her two-year stay in Pune, a city housing numerous military establishments, Yin developed connections with influential individuals. Concerns are being raised about her presence during sessions conducted by senior serving and veteran officers of the Indian armed forces at SPPU.

Responding to these developments, Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Khare, Head of the Department of Defence and Strategic Studies at SPPU, stated, “SPPU follows UGC guidelines for admissions. So it doesn’t matter whether the student is Pakistani or Chinese. We do not impart technical subjects related to the military. The Chinese woman, who has since discontinued her course, expressed her decision in writing.”
