Pune, 15th February 2024: In response to the perceived mishandling of recent incidents within their respective police stations, Senior Police Inspectors Vishwajeet Kaingade from Lonikand and Ravindra Shelke from Hadapsar police stations were transferred on Wednesday.

Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar stated, “We have transferred two senior inspectors after an inquiry revealed inept handling of two incidents reported in their jurisdiction over the last few days.”

One incident involved a 28-year-old electrical shop owner, Rohidas Jadhav, who set himself on fire at Wagholi police chowkey premises under the Lonikand police station. Jadhav alleged that the police did not adequately address his complaint against a neighbor over a parking dispute in their housing society. With severe burns covering 90% of his body, Jadhav remains in critical condition at a private hospital.

In another incident on February 8, a woman domestic help faced abuse and assault by police personnel at Magarpatta police chowkey, falling under the Hadapsar police station. In response, the city police ordered the suspension of an assistant police inspector and two women constables on Tuesday.

Inspector Shelke has been transferred to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) under Crime Branch, while Inspector Kaingade has been posted to the Special Branch.
