Pune, 20th August 2024: Candidates preparing for the upcoming Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) examination staged a protest on Tuesday night at Shastri Road, demanding the inclusion of 258 posts from the Agriculture Department in the exam scheduled for August 25th. The protestors also called for the postponement of the examination until their demands were met.

The MPSC is set to conduct the Preliminary Examination on August 25th. The candidates are insisting that the 258 posts in the Maharashtra Agricultural Service be incorporated into the same exam. However, the MPSC clarified that it did not receive the government’s demand letter for the Maharashtra Agricultural Service Examination 2024 until after the advertisement for the examination was published on December 29, 2023. Consequently, it was not possible to include the agricultural posts in the advertisement.

MPSC officials stated that the preparations for the August 25th exam are already complete. They assured me that the recruitment process for the posts mentioned in the Agriculture Service demand letter would be addressed as soon as possible in a future examination.

In response to the situation, the competitive exam candidates took a firm stance and organized a sit-in protest at Shastri Road, chanting slogans to express their dissatisfaction. The protest attracted a large number of participants, leading to a heavy police presence to maintain order. The police urged the protestors to demonstrate peacefully, ensuring that the situation remained under control.
