Chhath Puja In Pune: PMC Issues Guidelines, Gatherings Not Allowed On River Banks, Lake

Pune, November 19, 2020: Concerned about the spread of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued guidelines needed to be followed during the Chhath Puja, which will be observed on November 20 (evening Arghya).
Social distancing during Chhath Puja, use of masks in public places and frequent hand washing with soap remains a mandatory practice.
Guidelines to be followed:
1) Chhath Puja ceremony will not be allowed in any water body such as lake, river bank, canal, open ground or in any public place considering the crowds. The police department will ensure that devotees do not gather in such places.
2) Devotees should celebrate Chhath Puja at home. Organisers need to take care that social distancing is being maintained while performing Chhath Puja in private space/house.
 3) It will be mandatory to follow the social distancing rules and sanitisation during Chhath Puja.
4) People who break the rules, do not wear masks properly, smoke on the streets, and organise events without permission, disciplinary action against such people will be taken by the assistant municipal commissioner and the police administration.
All the activities which have been permitted from time to time will continue till further orders, stated the guidelines issued for the occasion. Strict action will be taken against any person violating COVID norms.
