Chandigarh University Secures Top Rank Among India’s Private Universities In QS World University Ranking 2024

Chandigarh(India), 30th June 2023: Chandigarh University (CU) has achieved a remarkable feat by securing the top rank among India’s private universities in the prestigious Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Ranking. The latest edition of the ranking, QS WUR-2024, evaluated 2963 institutions, and CU has emerged with an overall rank of 771-780, surpassing its previous rank of 801-1001. The university’s overall score in this year’s ranking is 15.2.

Out of the 45 Indian universities featured in the QS rankings, Chandigarh University holds the 20th position among both public and private institutes. Additionally, the university stands at the 233rd spot in Asia. While CU has attained the top position among private universities in India, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has secured the first rank among Indian public institutes in this year’s QS World University Rankings.

This achievement follows CU’s impressive debut in the QS World University Subject Rankings of 2023, where it secured the first position in India in Hospitality Management, 11th position in Engineering and Technology, Computer Science and Information Systems, 12th position in Mechanical Engineering, and 16th position in Business and Management Studies. The university also attained the 27th rank among India’s top universities in the recently released NIRF Rankings 2023.

Notably, CU has excelled in several indicators within the rankings. While it stands as the second-best Indian university in terms of international students and international faculty, it holds the sixth position in employer reputation, which takes into account employability and the institution’s reputation among employers. CU ranks 16th in India for academic reputation and 13th for faculty-student ratio.

Among private universities in the country, Chandigarh University leads in employer reputation and secures the second position in academic reputation. It also holds the sixth rank in sustainability.

CU has shown improvement in its scores across various ranking parameters. This year, the university has experienced a notable increase in its employer reputation score, climbing from 31.8 in the previous edition to an impressive 43.4. Additionally, the score for the international faculty ratio has also seen a significant rise, reaching 34.1. The faculty-student ratio score has also increased to 21.1, compared to last year’s 18.7, and the academic reputation score has jumped to 11.5 from 8.6. Furthermore, the international student ratio score has increased to 15.1 from 11.2.

CU Chancellor Satnam Singh Sandhu views this achievement as a significant milestone, highlighting the university’s commitment to excellence in academia and research driven by its faculty and students. He expressed the university’s dedication to imparting quality education and setting new benchmarks in higher education. CU aims to nurture young minds and equip them with a comprehensive set of skills, attitudes, and values to lead the country in various fields.
