Central Railway Achieves Impressive Automobile Loading Performance Leading to 33.92% Growth In Revenue

Mumbai, 25th September 2023: In a remarkable display of efficiency, Central Railway has demonstrated its commitment to the automobile industry by delivering outstanding performance this year. With Business Development Units (BDUs) at both Zonal and Divisional levels actively engaged with local industries, offering flexible schemes and garnering increased interest in rail transport, Central Railway has set a new benchmark.

From April 1st, 2023, to September 10th, 2023, Central Railway successfully transported a staggering 48,500 automobiles, loaded in 485 rakes, generating an impressive revenue of Rs. 82.78 crore. Notably, this achievement signifies a substantial increase compared to the corresponding period last year, with a remarkable growth of 19.16% in the number of rakes loaded.

This remarkable performance has led to a substantial increase in revenue, with Rs. 82.78 crore earned during the period from April 1st, 2023, to September 10th, 2023, compared to Rs. 61.81 crore for the corresponding period last year, representing a significant growth of 33.92%.

The loading of automobiles for transportation was efficiently carried out at key locations, including Kalamboli in the Mumbai Division, Ajni in the Nagpur Division, Nashik Road in the Bhusaval Division, Daund and Vilad in the Solapur Division, and Khadki, Chinchwad, Miraj, and Loni on Pune Division. Top clients of Central Railway in this endeavor include prominent automobile companies such as M/s Mahindra & Mahindra, M/s Tata Motors, and M/s Maruti Udyog, who regularly rely on railway services for the transit of their vehicles.

Pune Division has emerged as a leader in this achievement, with a loading of 341 rakes during the period from April 1st, 2023, to September 10th, 2023, compared to 254 rakes loaded during the same period last year. Bhusaval Division also contributed significantly, with 126 rakes loaded during the same timeframe, up from 102 rakes in the previous year.

Furthermore, during this period, Central Railway transported 8 ambulances from Pune, highlighting the versatility of rail transport services provided. These automobile dispatches have been efficiently delivered to various parts of the country, further reinforcing Central Railway’s vital role in facilitating the transportation needs of the automobile industry.
