Pune, March 14,2020: The hike by central government of Rs two on petrol and diesel in excise and Re one hike of road cess on Petroleum product has been initiated to absorb the impact on revenue due to the falling prices in international market.

“The Citizens can even now expect a further fall in fuel prices in coming days as petrol may come down to somewhere close to 70 Rs per litre and diesel to around 60 Rs per litre.
The State government too has raised the prices on both products by Re 1 in VAT for Maharashtra”, said Ali Daruwala, spokesperson,
All India Petrol Dealers Association (AIPDA).

AIPDA is expecting a very volatile market because of the sharp fall in crude prices in the international market.

Also, because of the fear of epidemic of Corona virus the sales have dropped by almost 20 percent at all outlets in India.

“The fuel dealers having been suffering huge losses over the past one month due to reducing prices. The government will not increase the price at the selling end- it will be adjusted on daily pricing system against the falling prices each day, so customers will not to be required to pay anything extra tomorrow morning”, Daruwala added.

In Pune today, petrol price is Rs 75.34 per litre while diesel price is Rs 64.28
