Caste-based Attack On MP Ramji Lal Suman’s Residence

Agra, 27th March 2025: Two cases have been registered at Hariparvat Police Station following a violent attack on the residence of Samajwadi Party’s Rajya Sabha MP, Ramji Lal Suman. One of the cases was filed by the MP’s son, Ranjit Suman, a former Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). The complaint alleges that hundreds of youths, using casteist slurs, entered the society where the family resides, launching a brutal assault on them and their supporters.

The attackers reportedly caused significant damage, including breaking vehicles, vandalizing homes, and engaging in stone-pelting. The Suman family has alleged that the assault was not just a random act of violence but was carried out with a clear intent to target them based on caste, further adding to the gravity of the situation.

The second case in this incident has been filed by SI Dinesh Kumar, who works in security, against Okendra Rana from the Karni Sena and other unknown people. According to the police, the attackers forced their way into the society, throwing stones and injuring several officers. On Wednesday afternoon, members of the Kshatriya Karni Sena took out a protest against a statement made by Rana Sanga in the Rajya Sabha. The protesters, angered by the statement, came with a bulldozer and attacked the house of Samajwadi Party MP Ramji Lal Suman. Hundreds of Karni Sena activists smashed the windows of the house with bricks and stones and damaged several vehicles, including three cars owned by the MP.

During the attack, the MP’s family was trapped inside the house, frightened and locked in. The situation became chaotic, and the police had to step in, using lathi charges to drive away the attackers.

Unfortunately, ten police officers, including the inspector and sub-inspector, were injured due to the stone-pelting. More than 20 people were detained by the police for their involvement in the violence. This disturbing incident has raised concerns about the safety of citizens and the growing political violence in the area.

This incident has sparked a broader conversation on the rising instances of caste-based violence and the role of political figures in curbing such acts.
