Brown sugar worth Rs 50 lakhs seized from woman in Pimpri

Pimpri,  December 3 – Officials from the anti-narcotic cell of Pune city police claimed to have seized Brown sugar powder (narcotic drugs) worth Rs 50 lakhs from a woman in Pimpri on Saturday.

The accused woman has been identified as Samira Faizanahmad Ansari (21), a resident of Kurla in Mumbai.

Acting on a tip-off received by police naik Vithal Khillare, a team laid by assistant police inspector Sanjay Thenge laid a trap near Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar statue in Pimpri, and nabbed the woman around noon opposite Roxy hotel. About 1 kg Brown sugar powder was seized from her possesion.

An FIR under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the woman accused with Pimpri police station.
