Boil Water Before Drinking: Muddy Water Alert in Pune

Pune, 28th July 2024: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued a critical advisory for residents to boil water before drinking due to the presence of muddy water in several areas of the city. This situation has arisen following the heavy release of water from the dams due to recent rainfall.

The substantial rainfall over the past few days has led to an increased release of water from the dams into the city’s water supply system. This surge has resulted in a muddy and contaminated water supply in many parts of Pune. The PMC has declared that the current water supply is not suitable for direct consumption.

To prevent waterborne diseases and ensure public health safety, the PMC has appealed to all residents to boil their water before use. Boiling water is an effective method to kill harmful pathogens and ensure that it is safe for drinking and cooking.

An official from the Pune Municipal Corporation stated, “Due to the heavy release of water from the dams following recent rainfall, the city’s water supply has been contaminated with mud and other particulates. We strongly advise all residents to boil their water before consumption to prevent any health issues.”
