31 JAN 2019 : The people are witness to the Supreme Court’s procrastination over the hearing the case of Shriram Temple which is closely associated with the faith of crores of Hindus. In such a situation, the Union Government’s step to seek the Supreme Court’s nod to return the undisputed 67.703 acres land of Shriram birthplace to the concerned is like digging one’s own grave. The reason for this is that stay granted by the Supreme Court itself in its verdict given in 1994 in regards to Acquisition of Certain Areas at Ayodhya Act, 1993 was valid till the judgement in the case that was being heard in the Allahabad High Court at that time. Therefore, the matter of the stay has come to an end after the verdict of the Allahabad High Court. Now, the Union Government should wield its powers to withdraw the ordinance which the Congress Government had promulgated in 1993 to acquire the undisputed land or promulgate another ordinance for returning the undisputed land. As a result, all obstacles in building the Shriram Temple will definitely be eliminated, said the National Guide of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti Sadguru (Dr.) Charudatta Pingale from his camp at Kumbha Mela in Prayagraj.

In the verdict given by the Supreme Court in 1994, in the case, Ismail Faruqui Vs. The Government of India, it has become clear that even though the Congress Government had acquired 67.703 of land, the actual size of the land under dispute is only 0.313 acre. As it is, the present hearing going on in the Supreme Court also relates to this disputed land only. Therefore, it is essential to return the remaining land acquired by the Congress Government to the original owners, informed Adv. Hari Shankar Jain, a senior lawyer who has been fighting the case of Shriram birthplace free of charges for the past 25 years. Therefore, the Union Government is free to take a decision on that land. In such a situation, our demand is that the Union Government which is enjoying the majority in the Lok Sabha should not depend on the judiciary and wield its statutory powers to either withdraw the ordinance promulgated by the Congress Government in 1993 or promulgate a new ordinance to return the undisputed land. As a result of which, it will be possible to start work of building Shriram Temple at earliest. Moreover, after another 10 years, the incident of the demolition of Shriram Temple by Babar will complete 500 years. It is a great misfortune for Hindus that they have to wait so long for building one temple connected with their seat of faith in a Hindu-majority nation. Therefore, the Union Government should promulgate an ordinance immediately without depending on the Supreme Court and lay a foundation stone of the Temple at the hands of Saints and Sages during the auspicious period of Kumbha Mela itself, demanded Hindus Janajagruti Samiti.
