Bihari Migrant Worker Shot Dead In Pune Over Rs 5000 Dispute, Crime Branch Nabs Three Accused

Ghorpade Peth, 30th October 2023: A Bihari migrant worker, Anil Ramdev Sahu (35), was shot dead by a criminal with a history of police records after he refused to lend Rs 5000. The incident took place in Ghorpade Peth under the jurisdiction of Khadak police station at around 2 am on Monday.

The swift response of the Unit One of the Crime Branch of Pune City Police led to the arrest of three suspects involved in the crime.

The deceased, Anil Ramdev Sahu, a native of Darbhanga district in Bihar, resided in Shrikrishna Heights building near Sinhgad Garage in Ghorpade Peth. His cousin, Dhuran Kumar Haridev Sahu (24), filed a formal complaint with Khadak police station.

The arrested individuals are identified as Rohit Sampat Komkar (23) of Shrikrishna Heights building, Ganesh Ulhasrao Shinde (41) from Chavannagar, Dhankawadi, and Aman Deepak Pardeshi (29) of Ghorpade Peth. Another suspect, Navnath Lodha, is on the run.

According to preliminary information from the police, Lodha has a criminal record and has faced previous legal actions under MCOCA. Anil Sahu, employed as a salesman in a saree shop, had been residing on rent for the past three years. Two days ago, Lodha demanded five thousand rupees from Sahu, who, citing financial constraints, declined the request, provoking Lodha’s anger.

On Sunday, Komkar’s birthday celebration was going on under the building when a heated argument ensued between Sahu, Lodha, Komkar, and Shinde. Enraged by the altercation, Lodha later went to Sahu’s residence, brandishing a pistol, and shot him dead.

Acting on a tip-off received by police personnel Aniket Babar and Ayaz Daddikar, Shinde and Pardeshi were apprehended from their homes, while Komkar was detained in the Swargate area.

The coordinated effort, under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ramnath Pokale, DCP (Crime) Amol Zende, and ACP Sunil Tambe, involved Senior Police Inspector Shabbir Syed, Assistant Inspector Ashish Kawthekar, and police personnel Rahul Makhare, Ajay Thorat, Aniket Babar, Ayaj Daddikar, Datta Sonwane and Shashikant Darekar.
