Bhide Bridge in Pune to Remain Closed for 1.5 Months from April 20 for Metro Footbridge Construction

Pune, 18th April 2025: Pune’s Bhide Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic from midnight on 20th April until 6th June for the construction of a pedestrian footbridge connecting Deccan Gymkhana Metro Station to the Central Peth areas. This closure, lasting one and a half months, aims to facilitate safe and speedy completion of the footbridge being built above the existing Bhide Bridge over the Mula River. While the bridge will be closed, the riverside road beneath it will remain open for traffic.
The footbridge will significantly improve metro access for residents of Narayan Peth, Shaniwar Peth and Laxmi Road. Pune Metro authorities have urged commuters to use alternative routes via Lakdi Bridge, Bal Gandharva Bridge, and Z Bridge during the closure period. The Pune Metro Administration has acknowledged the inconvenience caused and assured that the footbridge construction will be completed at the earliest.
This closure comes shortly after the successful completion of Phase 1 of the Pune Metro project, with all stations along the Vanaz–Ramwadi line now operational. The new pedestrian bridges are part of Pune Metro’s efforts to enhance last-mile connectivity between metro stations and key city localities, improving commuter convenience in central Pune.
