Banks to Remain Closed for 14 Days in April 2025

Mumbai, 1st April 2025: The nation celebrates Eid-ul-Fitr on  March 31, banks in several states remained closed in observance of the festival. Customers could still conduct transactions via mobile and online banking, but in-person services such as cheque deposits and account openings were not be available.

Additionally, with the new financial year 2025-26 commencing on April 1, banks across the country will remain closed for public transactions. This day has been designated for essential back-end banking procedures. In Jharkhand, banks will also remain closed on April 1 due to the Sarhul festival, which is widely celebrated in the state.

Looking ahead, banks are set to remain closed for 14 days in April, including Sundays and second/fourth Saturdays, as well as regional and national holidays. Customers are advised to plan their banking activities accordingly and utilize online banking services to avoid disruptions. For a detailed list of bank holidays in April, individuals should check their respective state-wise holiday schedules issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

Here is the complete list of bank holidays in April 2025:

April 5 (Saturday): Babu Jagjivan Ram Jayanti – A day observed in memory of social justice leader Babu Jagjivan Ram. Banks across the country will remain closed.

April 10 (Thursday): Mahavir Jayanti – Banks will remain closed in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Telangana.

April 14 (Monday): Ambedkar Jayanti & Regional New Year Celebrations
Banks will be closed in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Chhattisgarh, New Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Chandigarh, Mizoram, Meghalaya, and Himachal Pradesh for Ambedkar Jayanti.
Several regional festivals, including Vishu (Kerala), Tamil New Year (Tamil Nadu), Poila Boishakh (West Bengal), and Bihu (Assam), will also lead to bank closures in respective states.

April 15 (Tuesday): Bihu New Year (West Bengal) – Banks will remain closed in Assam, West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh.

April 21 (Monday): Garia Puja (Tripura) – Banks in Tripura will remain closed.

April 29 (Tuesday): Parshuram Jayanti (Himachal Pradesh) – Banks in Himachal Pradesh will not operate.

April 30 (Wednesday): Basava Jayanti (Karnataka) – Banks in Karnataka will remain closed.

In addition to these state-specific holidays, banks will also remain closed on all Sundays and the second (April 12) and fourth Saturdays (April 26) of the month.

Customers are advised to plan their banking transactions in advance to avoid any inconvenience due to multiple bank holidays in April 2025. Essential services such as UPI payments, mobile banking, and internet banking will remain operational. However, tasks like cheque clearance, cash withdrawals from branches, and account-related services may be affected on holidays.
