Auto Driver Arrested for Attempted Rape of Female Engineer in Pune’s Hadapsar
Pune, 21st June 2023: In a shocking incident that took place in Hadapsar, an auto driver attempted to assault a female computer engineer who was returning home in an autorickshaw early morning. The victim sought immediate help by promptly reporting the incident to the police control room. Subsequently, a team from Wanwadi Police Station swiftly pursued and arrested the auto driver.
The arrested individual has been identified as Aniket Nanasaheb Munjal, aged 24, presently residing in Shivchaitanyanagar, Fursungi, Hadapsar, and hailing from Umbere, Malshiras, in Solapur district. The incident occurred when the victim was travelling home from work at approximately 3:30 in the morning. Munjal, the auto driver, was positioned near the entrance of the IT company. The woman boarded his autorickshaw. However, the woman soon realized that Munjal had taken the wrong route.
The woman urged him to drop her off. He cunningly halted the auto at a desolate location near the railway gate in the Kalepadal area and attempted to molest her. Displaying immense courage, the woman fiercely resisted his advances. Sensing the gravity of the situation, she promptly contacted the police control room to report the incident.
A team from Wanwadi Police Station promptly arrived at the spot. Upon encountering resistance from the victim, the auto driver fled the spot. The police pursued and successfully nabbed Munjal. A case of attempted rape has been registered against him, and Assistant Police Inspector Datta Prasad Shendge has been assigned to investigate the matter.
